What can I expect from a consultation?
Therapy Clients
A consultation is a 15-minute video conference to explore your counseling needs & the therapist’s ability to meet those needs. Not every consultation leads to ongoing treatment. The therapist may refer you to another clinician who may be a better match for your needs. There is no cost for a consultation.
Other Services
If you’re a licensed clinician interested in clinical consultation, this brief chat allows us to discuss your professional goals. We’ll explore the kind of support you need & ensure that our services are a good fit for you.
For former clients who are interested in post-therapy coaching, a consultation provides an opportunity to set new goals. We’ll explore how coaching can help you maintain the progress you made in therapy.
What makes someone a great fit?
Therapy Clients
Life After Therapy specializes in working with Women of Color ages 30 to 50. Our work is tailored for clients who identify as Black, Afro-Caribbean, African, multi-racial/multi-ethnic, or are part of another cultural group. Many of our clients are the first & second generation immigrants. We provide safe, affirming therapy for those who identify as lesbian, bisexual, queer, or questioning. We encourage our clients to embrace & express themselves authentically, regardless of their spiritual, cultural, or personal praxis.
Great fit clients are committed to the therapy process & willing to do the hard work of connecting with self. These individuals are seeking one-on-one, virtual therapy, at least twice a month, for…
- anxiety
- depression
- personal trauma
- rediscovering/reclaiming their identities
- relationship & dating concerns
- processing toxic friendships
- resolving “unhealthy” patterns
- difficult life changes
- processing the death of a loved one
- building self-confidence
- exploring an adult ADHD diagnosis
- learning to put themselves first
- parent, family, or generational trauma
- living in alignment with their values
- opening up & being vulnerable
- discovering who they are outside of their work
Life After Therapy does NOT specialize in treating eating disorders, substance use disorders, OCD, personality disorders, bipolar disorder, anger/rage issues, or disorders that involve delusions or hallucinations.
Clients who are experiencing suicidal thoughts, homicidal thoughts, or self-harming behaviors are NOT eligible for virtual therapy & must seek in person treatment.
Other Services
To be a great fit for clinical consultation, a clinician must be fully licensed & demonstrate a passion for working with historically marginalized communities. Ideally, they feel comfortable working from an intuitive, trauma-informed, empowerment-based lens. Life After Therapy does not provide clinical supervision for associate licensed professionals.
At this time, post-therapy coaching services are only offered to former therapy clients.
