Insurance & Loveland Vouchers
Life After Therapy does NOT accept insurance. This allows us to provide clients with holistic, comprehensive treatment, without the limitations or unexpected changes that are common with insurance. Clients may self-pay for services and use their out-of-network benefits, if applicable.
Loveland Vouchers are NOT accepted as a direct form of payment. Though a therapist may be listed on a directory that is partnered with the Loveland Foundation (such as Therapy for Black Girls), that therapist may not be part of the Loveland Voucher program. Clients who wish to use Loveland Vouchers may pay for their sessions up front, and contact the Loveland Foundation directly for reimbursement (up to $120 per session). Please reach out to the Loveland Foundation, in advance, to confirm the reimbursement process.
Out-of-Network Benefits
Depending on your insurance plan, you may be eligible to use your out-of-network benefits. If opting to use out-of-network benefits, you will need to pay each session fee up front, then file a claim with your insurance for reimbursement. At your request, Life After Therapy can provide you with a superbill of services to submit to your insurance. The following steps can help you to confirm you out of your out-of-network benefits:
- Locate the number to your insurance provider’s member services line. This number is usually on the back of your insurance card. Call the number to speak to a representative.
- Let the representative know that you are calling to find out if your plan provides out-of-network benefits for outpatient mental health services. The representative may want to know the service code associated with your therapy visits. Tell them it is 90837 (modifier 95 or GT), which represents one-hour, outpatient virtual therapy.
- If you are eligible, ask the representative if there is a deductible that must be met before reimbursement. Also ask what the reimbursement amount will be after the deductible is met. Usually your reimbursement amount will be a certain percentage of what you paid up front for the service.
- Once you are clear on your eligibility, deductible, and reimbursement rate, ask the representative for instructions on how to submit an out-of-network claim for reimbursement.
- When you are ready to submit a claim, reach out to your therapist for a superbill. Clients may choose to submit claims and superbills to their insurance company on a monthly, quarterly, or yearly basis. Be sure to communicate with your therapist the dates that you would like the superbill to cover.
Equitable Pricing & Negotiated Rate
Life After Therapy is committed to offering equitably priced therapy services to our clients. Fees are based on the current market rate for therapeutic services, while also accounting for the clinician’s specialties, expertise, & training. Clients who are experiencing financial hardship, or find it difficult to pay the full rate, may request a negotiated rate of $135 per session. Negotiated rates are not available for other Life After Therapy services, and are subject to change at the clinician’s discretion.
No Surprises Disclosure
Under the “No Surprises” Act, effective January 1, 2022, clients have a right to a “Good Faith Estimate” of what their services will cost if they are choosing to use a provider that is not in network with their insurance. Please review the following:
- Your therapist will review the cost per session with you before scheduling your first session.
- Due to the nature of therapy, your therapist cannot provide you with an exact timeline for your treatment. However, based on the price per session, you can be provided with an estimate of what your services will cost, at your request, once the course of treatment has been decided.
- You do have the right to request a good faith estimate before services are provided. Make sure to save a copy for your records.
- If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your good faith estimate, you can dispute the bill.
